Exterior moldings and decorative trim are what make historical homes so interesting compared to newer construction. While you may not be interested in anything as elaborate as often seen on Victorian era homes such as the 1884-5 Lapham-Patterson House shown in the photo, any home could benefit from having decorative moldings added.
Did you know that any exterior architectural moldings, decorative trim or elaborate turned spindles and railings can be matched? Whether you are restoring a home, remodeling a building, or just want to create a similar style on a new house we would be happy to assist you.
We can match the specific styles and cuts of any existing moldings and decorative trim and even the original wood species. We have access to genuine Mahogany, deadhead sinker cypress, antique fumed white oak, reclaimed heart pine and reclaimed lumbers of all types.
We also offer a new ecofriendly treated lumber known as TimberSIL that is so rot proof and virtually fireproof that we offer a 40 year no rot warranty. It qualifies for LEED credits and is perfect for outdoor uses such as wood siding, patios, porches, railings and exterior shutters.
How to Use Our Molding Search Tool

TYPES OF EXTERIOR MOLDINGS:
Brick mold: a molding used around a door or window that fills the gap between the door or window and the wall.
Rake mold also know as Shingle Molding: “Shingle molding is used to provide additional detail to the fascia on homes. It is installed at the top of the fascia board, butting the bottom of the shingles–hence, the name. It is also commonly known as “rake molding” because it is typically installed only along the rake, or sloped, fascia on the gabled ends of homes.” (Definition from How to Cut Shingle Molding.) Exterior crown molding; Often added as a solid band just under the eave of the roof but also seen on the exteriors of older businesses. Bed molding: A narrow molding used at the junction of a wall and ceiling. More Types of Exterior Molding

What a nice upgrade! Great designing of exterior moldings. Are these are more expensive than simple moldings?
This moulding is great stuff – true artistic effort – maybe they are more expensive from other types.

What a beautiful house! Exterior molding is really great. I just wonder how much does it cost to have such a beautiful house.

I am totally in love with spindles and trims, it gives a room or a house a old world charm, and it always reminds me of a kid’s playhouse.
Oh yes and interior molding are an intricate design feature of the pre war homes.
That picture of the old Southern home is incredible, whoever lives there is very lucky. I’m sure it’s worth whatever cost to preserve something so beautiful.
Amazing! This looks like my dream house! I would love to upgrade my house with exterior moldings. Do you have any nice patterns to recommend?

Plan the design of the exterior molding. Determine where on the house the molding will enhance its curb appeal — along the porch railings, around the windows and doors, decorating the support pillars or trimming the roof support.
Exterior molding is what gives a building its distinct character! Think about the intricate carvings in La Alhambra or the shapely curves on top of a Thai temple. They are the epitome of architectural decoration reflecting the uniqueness of a culture.
Since my wife and I decided to sell our house, we thought to add a little bit of curb appeal to make it more attractive to buyers. We read a study that for every $2,000 spent on exterior mouldings, it would bring $10,000 in return. While it wasn’t exactly that number, it was fairly close and we sold our house within 2 weeks for more than we were asking. Our home is constructed of brick and we used mouldings around our windows and doors as well as corner accents. We are very happy with the way it turned out and plan on using it on our new home on stone
The exterior molding adds character to the house and hence, makes the whole place looks warmer, lived-in and more appealing generally, at first glance. That is the same reason why repainting or remodeling can make a house sell more easily and for more money. It’s the first impression that it gives visitors.

As I mentioned on your other page, your site was a tremendous resource for our wainscoting project we just completed for our hallway. Nice, exhaustive molding and finishing site.
