Molding Run Charges

Over the past five years, Good Millwork has worked directly with lumber mills, hardwood lumber distributors, lumber and builder supply stores, residential and commercial contractors, architectural salvage companies and homeowners to manufacture moldings from what we refer to as customer supplied lumber.

With over 10,000 profiles in our library and our molders ability to cut a profile up to 11-1/2″ wide and 6″ thick, even the most rustic salvaged beam can quickly become a gorgeous architectural crown molding with something truly unique – a story. Don’t be shy to ask if we can, we’ve seen it all; #2 treated pine from the local contractor supply, fingerjoint radiata just in from the port, Cuban mahogany that has been stored for just the right occasion and every now and then that call regarding the ancient oak that fell in grandmother’s yard where the summers were spent over 30 years ago.

The information below has been put together to outline how we handle your lumber. Your lumber will be tallied (measured for thickness, width and length) upon receipt, we don’t cut your lumber until we have a signed drawing of the profile that you’ve requested, we continue to inspect as the lumber is milled and communicate frequently…after all, it is your lumber.

One final note, the information below is based on the use of our existing molding profiles. In the event we do not have the profile that you desire, we’ll gladly match your profile from an existing sample, fax, picture or even hand sketch. As mentioned above a drawing will be created for approval before any wood is cut. The cost for creating a new profile, or as we call it cutting steel, is $65 per inch of profile face. We’ve tried to make this as easy as possible but don’t hesitate to give us a call with questions…you’d be surprised at how easy this really can be.
